Freshman State Representative Mark Luft, R-Pekin, was appointed this week to serve on six House Committees reflecting his dynamic experience as a community leader and proven ability to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to find solutions on complex issues.
Representative Luft has been appointed to the following committees: Cities & Villages, Revenue & Finance, Public Utilities, Housing, Economic Opportunity & Equity, and General Services Appropriations, which plays a key role in state budget making.
“I am eager to get to work at the committee level where a lot of the heavy lifting in Springfield gets done,” Luft said. “2021 is a pivotal year for Illinois, we know that already. In order for Illinois to emerge from the pandemic in terms of building a strong, growing economy and confidence in public health, we need to begin by establishing trust across party lines and offering practical solutions to the challenges facing Illinois. I plan to utilize my experience bringing people together in Pekin to accomplish great things for our community to the state level, beginning on my new committees. I’m upbeat and ready to get going.”
Representative Luft’s committee assignments gives Peoria-area communities a strong voice on legislation that directly impacts municipalities, jobs and the economy, utility regulation, and state spending. Luft’s committee assignments for the 102nd General Assembly are effective for the entire 2021-2023 term.
